After already making his mark on the Vols’ all-time record book this season, Tennessee guard Zakai Zeigler added a major SEC accomplishment to his resume during Tuesday’s loss to Kentucky.
With 13 points in Tennessee’s game on Tuesday night, Zeigler has now eclipsed 1,300 points in his collegiate career. According to UT Athletics, Zeigler is only the second player in Southeastern Conference history to record 1,300 points, 600 assists, and 200 steals in a career.
The stat-sealing play came with a layup at the 16:11 mark in the second half of action.
The only other player in conference history to achieve that career stat line was Arkansas guard Kareem Reed.

Through 122 career games at Tennessee, Zeigler has 1,310 points, 628 assists, and 225 steals with more time to record stats. Reed, meanwhile, ended his four-year career at Arkansas (’95 to ’99) with 1,475 points, 748 assists, and 251 steals. Reed played in 131 career games with the Razorbacks.
Zeigler broke Tennessee’s all-time steals record earlier in the season, topping former teammate Santiago Vescovi as the previous record holder. Zeigler broke Vescovi’s record just 296 days after he earned the title.
The 5-foot-9 senior guard is second in Tennessee history in all-time assists, trailing Johnny Darden’s 715 career assists from 1975 to 1979.
Tennessee moved to 17-4 on the season after Tuesday’s loss to Kentucky but still have opportunities to bounce back. The Vols will take on two ranked teams this week as they host No. 5 Florida on Saturday and No. 20 Missouri next Wednesday.
