Three-point shooting was the big storyline on both sides in No. 8 Tennessee’s 78-73 loss to No. 12 Kentucky on Tuesday night in Knoxville.
On one hand, it was the numbers game. Kentucky made 12-of-24 three-point attempts throughout the game while Tennessee made just 11-of-45 attempts. On the other hand, though, it was also about the timing of the makes and misses.
Kentucky opened both halves with big perimeter scoring runs while Tennessee went ice-cold in the final few minutes as the Vols desperately needed one of their looks to go in. If the numbers game wasn’t bad enough on its own, the timing of the hot and cold streaks really impacted the way this game ended up.
