Florida looks to have its eye on a former Tennessee quarterback from the transfer portal.

On3 Sports’ Steve Wiltfong reported on Thursday morning that former Louisville quarterback Harrison Bailey was set to throw in front of the Gators’ coaching staff later in the day.

Wiltfong’s report also suggests that Florida has an interest in Bailey to add depth to its quarterback room behind starting QB DJ Lagway heading into the 2025 season. Bailey’s workout success on Thursday will reportedly determine whether Florida sets up a true visit with him this weekend.

“If Bailey throws well, Billy Napier and his staff will then have him visit this weekend,” Wiltfong writes.

Bailey led Louisville to a win over Washington in the Sun Bowl on New Year’s Eve and hit the portal just three days later. The win over the Huskies was Bailey’s first start of the season and his first start since the 2020 season with Tennessee. Bailey threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns in the 35-34 win.

The former four-star prospect from the 2020 recruiting class spent his first two seasons at Tennessee before transferring to UNLV for the 2022 season. After one year in Las Vegas, Bailey transferred to Louisville and spent the previous two seasons with the Cardinals. Bailey entered the portal after being named the MVP of Louisville’s Sun Bowl victory.

Bailey threw for 594 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions in seven games over two seasons at Tennessee. In his five years of college football, Bailey has thrown for 1,190 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions.

The Gators will certainly be starting DJ Lagway next season but are reportedly looking to add depth to the quarterback room. Florida also signed four-star quarterback Tramell Jones in the 2025 recruiting class.

Bailey, at the time of this publication on Thursday evening, has not yet announced his commitment out of the portal.
