Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is reportedly expected to enter the transfer portal, according to a report from On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos on Thursday.

The news comes just 12 days after Beck had declared for the NFL Draft. Beck did not play for the Bulldogs during their one-game playoff run after injuring his UCL in his right elbow during the SEC Championship game against Texas in early December. Beck underwent surgery after the injury occurred.

Nakos’ report on Thursday suggests that Beck is now coming back to college football and is looking for a new home.

“Beck previously announced his plans to enter the 2025 NFL draft but will instead enter college football’s free agency,” Nakos published on Thursday.

While Beck did struggle at times last season with Georgia, the former Georgia quarterback will likely be one of the highest-paid portal prospects this cycle. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Thursday afternoon that Miami “looms as the favorite” to land the former Georgia signal caller.

The senior quarterback has been with Georgia for four years and took over as the Bulldogs’ starter following the 2022 season and Stetson Bennett’s departure to the NFL. During his first year as the starter in 2023, Beck led Georgia to a 13-1 record with a loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship and a win over Florida State in the Orange Bowl.

Beck went 10-3 with Georgia as the starter during his senior season and threw for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions on the year. While Beck threw more touchdowns in 2024 than he did in 2023, the Georgia quarterback saw a statistical decline in yards, completion percentage, and an increase in turnovers.

Beck finished the 2024 season with 3,485 yards on 64.7% completion, 28 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Beck also rushed for 45 fewer yards as a senior than he did as a junior.

Beck started two games against Tennessee and found wins in both contests. In 2023, Beck threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-10 win over the Vols from Knoxville. In 2024, Beck threw for 347 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-17 victory over the Vols in Athens.

Beck is a two-time national champion after serving as a backup quarterback on the Bulldogs’ 2021 and 2022 championship teams.

The Jacksonville, FL, native was a four-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting cycle.
