No. 1 Tennessee beat No. 23 Arkansas on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville behind a roaring crowd at the Food City Center.

Tennessee has had typical non-conference attendance throughout the fall but turned it up with a sold-out crowd to open SEC play on Saturday.

Even without students back from winter break, Tennessee’s crowd brought the heat during the cold front in Knoxville.

Perhaps it was former Vol Jonas Aidooo’s return to Knoxville. Perhaps it was John Calipari’s first trip to Rocky Top since leaving Kentucky. Tennessee’s first SEC game certainly factored in, too. But in reality, all three components combined gave Tennessee its best home crowd of the season so far.

Aidoo spent three years at Tennessee before leaving for Arkansas last spring and the Vol fans in attendance let him have it all game. From his pregame introduction to hard fouls under the basket, Tennessee’s boo birds were loud and impactful to give the Vols their home-court advantage.
