After the mass exodus to the transfer portal, there’s no bigger area of need for Tennessee football in the portal than at receiver.

Mike Matthews submitted the paper work to enter the transfer portal but his status with Tennessee football remains up in the air entering next season. If Matthews leaves, the Vols will have just two returning scholarship receivers. If Matthews stays, the Vols will have three.

But no matter what happens with Matthews, Tennessee needs to add a handful of receivers in the transfer portal to have more reliable options next season as well as depth.

The problem for Tennessee is that most the top receivers in the transfer portal have already found homes. Of both 247sports and On3 sports top 20 ranked transfer receivers, 19 have already committed to new schools. S

So who are the top receivers remaining in the transfer portal? Taking a look here.

More From RTI: Former Tennessee Running Back Cam Seldon Headed to ACC Program

Zachariah Branch, Southern Cal

Branch is by far the biggest name remaining receiver name in the portal. The slot receiver is an elite return man and a solid receiver. He caught 47 passes for 503 yards and a touchdown in his sophomore season for USC.

Two interesting things to note here. First, he is a slot receiver and Tennessee has a bigger need out wide. Secondly, Branch will be quite expensive and will likely be a package deal with his younger brother Zion Branch (safety).

Branch is 247sports‘ No. 2 receiver in the portal and On3’s No. 8 receiver in the portal.

Donavon Greene, Wake Forest

Greene is one of the few remaining transfer receivers with some proven production at the power four level. The 6-foot-2 receiver caught 23 passes for 380 yards and three touchdowns while missing five games due to injury last season. In 2023, Greene caught 37 passes for 642 yards and six touchdowns.

247sports ranks Greene as the No. 78 receiver in the transfer portal while On3 ranks him as the No. 27 receiver in the portal.

A 6-foot-1, 178-pound receiver, Kentucky was high on Gilmore exiting the 2024 season. Gilmore is unproven to this point in his career, catching six passes for 153 yards and one touchdown during his freshman season. But the talent seems to be there and he has multiple years to play.

247sports has not ranked Gilmore in the transfer portal. On3 ranks Gilmore as the No. 39 receiver in the transfer portal.

Troy Stellato, Clemson

Stellato spent three seasons at Clemson and was a backup during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Over the course of those two years, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver caught 64 passes for 601 yards and two touchdowns.

A 6-foot, 190-pound receiver, Norton caught 43 passes for 831 yards and seven touchdowns in his sophomore season.

247sports does not rank Norton while On3 ranks Norton as the No. 47 receiver in the transfer portal.
