ESPN’s College Gameday is in Columbus Saturday for Tennessee’s first round College Football Playoff clash at Ohio State on Saturday night. It’s the third time that ESPN’s premier pregame show has been at a Tennessee game this season with all three of them being away from Knoxville.
But despite the fact that the game is in Columbus, Tennessee fans were well represented at gameday. Kirk Herbstreit even said that it was the most away fans that he had ever seen at College Gameday.
Tennessee is in the playoffs for the first time in its 11-year existence after posting a 10-2 (6-2 SEC) record in the regular season including rivalry wins over Florida and Alabama. Both games that the Vols dropped were on the road, first at Arkansas and then at Georgia.
Ohio State is no stranger to the playoffs. They won the first ever four-team CFP in 2014 before returning to the playoffs five more times over the last nine years. The Buckeyes would have missed the four-team playoffs this season after posting a 10-2 (7-2 Big 10) record but the expanded playoffs gave the talented Ohio State team another shot.
Kickoff between Tennessee and Ohio State is at 8 p.m. ET tonight at Ohio Stadium. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe are on the call for ABC and ESPN.
The College Gameday crew like Ohio State to take care of business with all five on the stage taking the favorites.
