Kickoff for Tennessee football’s first round playoff matchup against Ohio State is just a day away. It’s the first year of the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff and with it the first time that playoff games are on campuses.
But after a regular-season ending loss against Michigan, Buckeye fans don’t seem too excited for the playoff matchup. Ticket prices continue to drop for the battle between the Vols and Buckeyes in the playoffs. As of early Friday afternoon, the get in price is all the way down to $63 on the secondary market.
Tennessee fans quest to “take over The Shoe” has been well publicized this week with a number of Volunteer fans planning on making the trek up north to watch Josh Heupel’s team play in the program’s first playoff game.
Last week, Ohio State athletic director Ross Bjork came out publicly and pleaded with Buckeye fans not to sell their tickets, show up and support the home team as they do a “scarlet out” at Ohio Stadium.
The Buckeyes are in the playoffs after a 10-2 (7-2 Big 10) regular season that saw them earn marquee wins at Penn State and at home against Indiana while losing at Oregon and at home against Michigan. Tennessee is in the playoffs for the first time after posting a 10-2 (6-2 SEC) record with rivalry wins over Florida and Alabama as well as road losses at Arkansas and Georgia.
With kickoff a day away, Ohio State remains seven-point favorites with the over/under set at 46.5 according to the DraftKings Sportsbook.
Despite being underdogs, Tennessee fans are making the trek to Columbus to support the Big Orange. If you’re still debating making the trip, there’s plenty of affordable tickets available.
