Conference championship weekend closed down on Saturday in thrilling fashion and the final 12 teams have been decided for the College Football Playoff. This week’s SEC Shorts video showed the SEC teams fighting in a capture-the-flag-style game for the final playoff spots. The Vols relinquished demons of the past in a hilarious fashion that will make all Vol fans even more proud of the 2024 season and have a laugh at the same time.

Tennessee secured the 9-seed in the playoff and landed a date with Ohio State at “The Shoe” on Dec. 21 at 8:00 p.m. This has been a long time coming for Tennessee fans and is a tremendous accomplishment for it only being Josh Heupel’s fourth season leading the program. The Vols will have to rely on their strong running game in a tough road environment but match up well with Ohio State on both the offensive and defensive lines.

Both teams who played in Saturday’s SEC Championship were rewarded with a playoff spot as the champion, Georgia, earned a first-round bye and the 2-seed with its win. Quarterback Carson Beck’s status remains uncertain as it was revealed he has a UCL injury in his throwing arm. Texas slid down to the 5-seed after their SEC championship loss but will still host a first-round playoff game in Austin.
