The No. 1 player in the Volunteer State has officially signed with Tennessee.
Georgia MacIntyre, the top-ranked player from Tennessee in the 2025 recruiting class, signed with the Vols’ Early Signing Day class on Wednesday morning. Tennessee’s social media team officially announced the signing just past 8:00 a.m. ET.
MacIntyre’s signing gives Tennessee and head coach Josh Heupel a great pocket-passing quarterback for the future.
The Brentwood Academy (Nashville) quarterback ranks as a four-star prospect, the No. 92 overall player, the No. 10 quarterback, and the No. 1 player from Tennessee in 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings.
“Possesses a cleaner stroke and can drive the football 50-plus yards. Can also distribute quickly when needed,” 247’s Andrew Ivins wrote about MacIntyre in an evaluation from the 2023 season. “Shows plenty of touch on deep shots and will use trajectory to his advantage. Shouldn’t be viewed as a true dual-threat talent, but is elusive in the face of pressure and will get away from trouble. Has to get better with his timing and accuracy when looking to attack the short-to-intermediate parts of the field and will likely benefit greatly from having a supporting cast full of Power Four-caliber wide receivers.”

MacIntyre was set to compete in the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles last spring but backed out at the last minute as he was healing from an injury in his throwing hand. According to 247 Sports, MacIntyre put up more than 2,700 yards, 17 touchdowns, and just three interceptions during his senior season with Brentwood Academy this past fall.
MacIntyre took multiple trips to Rocky Top this past season including the Alabama game in October.
The 6-foot-5.5, 190-pound prospect is Tennessee’s only quarterback commitment in the class. MacIntyre will join a room of redshirt sophomore Nico Iamaleava and redshirt freshman Jake Merklinger in Knoxville next season barring any departures.
Tennessee also has a commitment from quarterback Faizon Brandon, the nation’s top-ranked player in the 2026 class according to 247 Sports’ company rankings.
Tennessee’s 2025 currently ranks No. 10 in the nation according to 247’s team rankings but you never know what surprises might pop up on Early Signing Day. Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider’s live updates here.
