Tennessee announced the signing of linebacker Christian Gass within the first 30 minutes of Early Signing Day on Wednesday, meaning that the Vols won the border battle for the talented defensive prospect.
Chalk up a win for Josh Heupel on the board.
While Gass has been committed to Tennessee since July, Georgia was making a big late-stage push for the Peach State native. The Bulldogs have pushed hard for the in-state prospect throughout his recruitment and seemingly to the wire.
Gass did go to Georgia for the Tennessee Tech game in early September but followed that up with two massive Tennessee games in Knoxville in October. According to 247 Sports, Gass attended both the Florida game and the Alabama game in Neyland Stadium earlier in the season.
While there was some chatter about Georgia potentially hosting Gass for the Tennessee game on Nov. 16, the 2025 prospect told Sports Illustrated’s Caleb Sisk on Nov. 20 that he didn’t end up going to that game after all.
Despite a strong push from the Bulldogs, Gass held firm in his commitment to Tennessee and signed on the dotted line Wednesday morning.
A huge win for Tennessee.
Home sweet home!
