Tennessee Commit Delaying Signing After Push From SEC Rival

Tennessee commit Onis Konanbanny will not be signing at the start of the Early Signing Period on Wednesday.

The class of 2025 prospect made that announcement via Instagram Story on Wednesday afternoon.

Konanbanny’s signing delay comes after a big push from Florida this fall.

On Tuesday, On3 Sports recruiting experts Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons both logged predictions for Konanbanny to flip his commitment from Tennessee to Florida. The predictions from Wiltfong and Simmons moved Florida into the frontrunner in the clubhouse at 65.7% according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.

247 Sports national recruiting analyst Tom Loy also logged a prediction for Konanbanny to flip to Florida on Tuesday afternoon.

The Columbia, S.C., native committed to Tennessee in August during a summer recruiting surge but did take a visit to Florida for the Ole Miss game in late November. The Gators ended up upsetting the Rebels in that game which helped push Tennessee towards a playoff spot.

Konanbanny posted a picture with Florida QB commit-turned-signee Tramell Jones Jr. after the game from the Florida locker room.

Konanbanny is listed as a four-star prospect, the No. 384 player overall, the No. 38 cornerback in the class, and the No. 8 player from South Carolina according to On3’s Industry Rankings.
