Four-star defensive lineman Isaiah Campbell committed to and signed with Tennessee football on Wednesday afternoon as Josh Heupel and his staff make a major splash on early signing day.
Campbell ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 37 player nationally according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound prospect ranks as the No. 5 defensive lineman and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
The blue-chip recruit was committed to Clemson for nine months before de-committing from the Tigers back in September. Since his de-commitment, Campbell has taken recruiting visits to both North Carolina and Tennessee with his official visit to Knoxville coming the same weekend that the Vols defeated Alabama.
Campbell also visited North Carolina after backing off his commitment from Clemson but the Tar Heels moving on from head coach Mack Brown essentially eliminated them from consideration as Campbell made his final decision.

Landing Campbell is the latest recruiting win for Tennessee football in the state of North Carolina. The top player in the state of North Carolina, David Sanders, is committed to Tennessee but has yet to officially sign with the Vols. Tennessee has also landed top defenders like James Pearce Jr and Daevin Hobbs from North Carolina while five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon is committed in the 2026 cycle.
Campbell became the 25th member of Tennessee’s recruiting class on Wednesday and is the second highest rated commit in the class behind only Sanders. The blue-chip prospect is the fifth defensive lineman committed in Tennessee’s class, joining four-stars Mariyon Dye, Ethan Utley and Jayden Loftin as well as three-star Charles House.
Tennessee did lose a defensive line commit on Wednesday when Darrion Smith flipped to Auburn but the Vols replaced the three-star recruit with a high four-star. The Vols’ 25-commit recruiting class now ranks No. 10 nationally and No. 7 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
