Tennessee football clinched its spot in the College Football Playoffs on Saturday by knocking off instate foe Vanderbilt 36-23 in Nashville. The Vols improved to 10-2 (6-2 SEC) with the win, securing the program’s second 10-win season in three years and their spot in the expanded playoffs.
The question for Tennessee is where they’ll land in the playoffs and the Vols are right on the border of hosting a playoff game and going on the road for the first round game.
The committee will likely rank Tennessee likely either No. 6 or No. 7 in the new rankings on Tuesday but with the automatic bids they’ll be either the eight or the nine-seed. That is the line between Tennessee hosting is first playoff game at Neyland Stadium or going on the road.
