No. 8 Tennessee has four players out and three listed as questionable ahead of this Saturday’s regular-season finale against Vanderbilt.

The Commodores, meanwhile, are dealing with slightly more injury trouble heading into the in-state showdown. Vanderbilt listed seven players out and two as questionable for Saturday’s home contest.

Wednesday night provided the first of four injury reports that the SEC will release leading up to kickoff from FirstBank Stadium. The report will be updated on Thursday night and Friday night at 8:15 p.m. ET while the final one on Saturday will come out at 10:30 a.m. ET.

The report looks a good bit different than the last one we saw on the Saturday of the Georgia game. With UTEP being a non-conference opponent, Tennessee did not have any reports all last week.

The big news for Tennessee is that it looks like backup running back DeSean Bishop is good to go for the regular-season finale. Bishop has not played since suffering an injury against Kentucky on Nov. 2 and was consistently listed as out leading to Mississippi State and Georgia. Bishop’s name doesn’t appear on Wednesday’s report.

Here’s a look at how Tennessee and Vanderbilt are both shaking out in the debut injury report on Wednesday night:

Tennessee Notes

As previously mentioned, Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop is not listed on the report at all on Wednesday. Bishop has not played since Kentucky but was the primary backup behind Dylan Sampson through the Vols’ first eight games. Tennessee freshman Peyton Lewis has seen a large bulk of the relief work in Bishop’s absence as Josh Heupel finds himself with an extra contributor in the running back room heading into the final week of the regular season.

According to Tennessee’s participation report, all three of the Vols’ questionable players did see action in last week’s game against UTEP. Charles and Ross have been rotational players at their positions this season but neither has been starting. Lampley got the starting nod on Senior Day but turned the position back to Javontez Spraggins pretty quickly.

Freshman tight end Cole Harrison is a new addition to the report since the Georgia game.

Thomas and Pili have season-ending injuries but the positive news is that Tennessee also looks to have linebacker Edwin Spillman back after the freshman has missed the majority of the season with injury. Tennessee lineman Vysen Lang has been listed as out on the last few injury reports.
