Tennessee made its presence in the College Football Playoff race known on this week’s SEC Shorts.
This week’s SEC Shorts video showed some of the top SEC teams trying to make the train to the College Football Playoff. The video focused on Alabama, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M attempting to explain their potential travel plans to the conductor until a swagged-out Tennessee fan rained all over their parade in a must-see entrance that all Tennessee fans will want to watch.
The Vols took care of business against UTEP at Neyland Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a dominating 56-0 win. Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava was very accurate completing 17-of-23 passes for 209 yards and four touchdowns while Dylan Sampson also found the checkerboards for a huge touchdown. The Vols moved to 9-2 on the year as fans turned their attention to the scoreboard for the rest of Saturday’s slate.
While “The Chomp” celebration at Neyland Stadium is usually reserved for when the Tennessee fanbase wants to troll Florida, the Gators’ huge win against Ole Miss had Tennessee fans chomping and cheering on Saturday afternoon. Florida upset No. 9 Ole Miss 24-17 after Rebels quarterback Jackson Dart threw two poor interceptions as Ole Miss tried to mount a game-tying drive. At 8-3 with losses to Kentucky and now Florida, Ole Miss seemingly will miss out on the CFB Playoff picture this year.

Alabama traveled to Norman to take on the struggling Sooners on Saturday night and found themselves in for a rude awakening. Behind 131 rushing yards from QB Jackson Arnold, Oklahoma found offensive success for the first time in weeks while their defense held Alabama without a touchdown. Despite the win against Georgia, road losses to Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Oklahoma seem to be too much for an 8-3 Alabama team to overcome in order to make the playoff, but only time will tell.
In an instant classic, Auburn upset Texas A&M 43-41 in quadruple overtime. A late comeback from A&M could not combat a 21-0 start from Auburn as the Tigers earned their signature win of the season. Texas A&M moves to 8-3 and will host the current leader of the SEC in Texas for a huge rivalry matchup on Saturday in College Station.
