Social Media Reacts: Tennessee Viewed As Big Winners in Chaotic College Football Saturday

Tennessee Playoffs
Social media reacts to Tennessee’s spot in the CFB Playoff rankings.

Tennessee emerged as one of the big winners from Saturday’s chaotic day in college football.

And, no, we’re not just talking about the Vols’ 56-point shutout win over UTEP in Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee needed a bit of help on Saturday from the college football landscape and certainly got it – and then some. With Tennessee sitting at No. 11 in the college football playoff rankings entering the day, the Vols saw No. 5, No. 7, No. 9, No. 15, No. 16, and No. 19 all lose around them. Not only does that move Tennessee up to a projected playoff spot but also clears up a lot of the logjam around them.

Two of those teams include Alabama and Ole Miss, who lost to Oklahoma and Florida, respectively. Tennessee now trails only one-loss Texas and two-loss Georgia in the SEC rankings thanks to the Sooners and the Gators. Looking at you, Josh Pray.

  1. I don’t understand why all the dislikes from outsiders on our Big Orange. I gotta believe that the committee will post us up against someone they think will beat us in the playoffs and then set the officials they need to flag us to death as a back up! Come-on-man! #BeatVandy
