Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel had his postgame press conference on Saturday night inadvertently interrupted by a Georgia staff member’s cell phone.
About three and a half minutes into his postgame presser, the Georgia fight song began blaring through the media room. The song was coming from the back of the room and continued to play on and off over the next 30 seconds or so.
You can tell that it caught Heupel by surprise, as his eyes looked around to see where the sound was coming from after he finished answering the question that was asked.
With the fight song still playing, Heupel was asked another question. The Tennessee coach had to get clarification on the question as he couldn’t hear it over the sound of the song being accidentally played.
You can hear the song in the video below but the audio is coming directly through the microphone on the table, meaning that the sound is more diluted in the video than it was in person. Another media member even asked for the song to be turned off as it was playing during the press conference, which you can also hear below.
Note: The video will automatically start at the selected clip after pressing play below.
The true sound of the fight song being played can be better heard in this clip from VolReport on YouTube below. Again, the video will start at the time of the selected portion after pressing play:

It wasn’t something intentional from the Georgia Athletics department. It was an accidental mishap but one that was clearly in bad timing. The length that the song played before being shut off, and then happening again, was a tough, unfortunate moment for the Bulldogs in the media room on Saturday night.
Accidents happen but this one was a big one.
Tennessee fell to Georgia by a score of 31-17 in Athens on Saturday night as the Vols now have two losses with just two games remaining in the regular season. Josh Heupel’s group will return to Knoxville this weekend for the Senior Day home finale against UTEP before heading west down I40 to take on Vanderbilt in the regular season finale from Nashville.
