Tennessee basketball made the top five for five-star wing Caleb Wilson on Monday afternoon according to On3’s Joe Tipton. The Vols joined Central Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina and Ohio State in Wilson’s top group.
Wilson is also planning to announce his commitment either in December or January after taking official visits to all of his contenders this fall.

Wilson ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 5 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. An Atlanta native, Wilson ranks as the No. 3 power forward and the top player in the state of Georgia in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
The 6-foot-9, 205-pound forward took an official visit to Tennessee the same week that the Vol football team hosted Florida at Neyland Stadium. Wilson also took an unofficial visit to Tennessee in the fall of 2023.

Wilson also took visits to North Carolina, Kentucky, Central Florida, Ohio State and Southern Cal this fall. North Carolina is the only other school in Wilson’s top five that he’s taken multiple visits to during his recruitment. However, Tennessee is not one of the top favorites in Wilson’s recruitment with the Tar Heels and Kentucky being the top contenders.
Tennessee is top contenders for a two other top 10 recruits besides Wilson: forward Nate Ament (No. 4) and forward Chris Cenac (No. 6). The Vols have a better chance to land Ament and Cenac than they do Wilson at this point in time.
This is an incredibly important recruiting class for Rick Barnes and Tennessee basketball due to the high number of scholarships that they have available. The Vols have eight scholarships to work with in the 2025 recruiting cycle. They already have two scholarship spots unfilled this season and have six seniors on their current roster including returnees Zakai Zeigler, Jahmai Mashack and Jordan Gainey as well as incoming transfers Darlinstone Dubar, Chaz Lanier and Igor Milicic.
Tennessee signed two recruits during the early signing period last week: four-star wing Amari Evans as well as four-star center DeWayne Brown. In addition to Wilson, Ament and Cenac, Tennessee is actively recruiting five-star combo guard Brayden Burries and four-star point guard Chance Mallory.
