No. 12 Georgia will host No. 7 Tennessee in a critical SEC rivalry game on Saturday night in Athens, GA, with major playoff stakes on the line.
The big story of the week on the Tennessee side is the status of a few banged-up key players including quarterback Nico Iamaleava. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Tuesday that Iamaleava was in concussion protocol, leading to his designation as “questionable” in the report on Wednesday.
For more specifics on Iamaleava, check out RTI’s news report here.
Dont’e Thornton, Tennessee’s leading receiver on the season, is also listed as questionable after leaving last Saturday’s game early as well.
The first edition of the Tennessee-Georgia injury report was released on Wednesday night. The injury report will be updated on Thursday night, Friday night, and roughly 90 minutes before kickoff on Saturday night in Athens. Check out the conference-wide injury report for yourself here.
Here’s a look at the Wednesday night injury report for the Tennessee-Georgia game on Saturday night in Athens:
TENNESSEE
OUT
- DB Jourdan Thomas
- LB Keenan Pili
- LB Edwin Spillman
- RB DeSean Bishop
QUESTIONABLE
- WR Dont’e Thornton Jr.
- QB Nico Iamaleava
- OL Vysen Lang
Tennessee Notes
Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop looks to be missing a second straight week after getting injured against Kentucky two weeks ago. With Bishop serving as the primary backup to Dylan Sampson this season, that role will now continue to be in the hands of freshman running back Peyton Lewis – as it was last week against Mississippi State.
Tennessee wide receiver Dont’e Thornton is listed as questionable in the Wednesday report after getting injured in the second half against Mississippi State last weekend in Knoxville. Thornton is Tennessee’s leading receiver with 505 yards and four touchdowns on 20 receptions.
Quarterback Nico Iamaleava is also listed as questionable. Iamaleava is reportedly in concussion protocol after suffering an injury late in the first half last weekend. For more on Iamaleava, click here.
Tennessee reserve offensive lineman Vysen Lang is listed as questionable in Wednesday’s report. Lang was not in the injury report at any point last week leading into the Mississippi State game.
Thomas and Pili have season-ending injuries while linebacker Edwin Spillman has missed the vast majority of the season with injury.

- WR Anthony Evans III has nine receptions for 88 yards and no touchdowns this season.
- RB Cash Jones only has eight carries on the season and isn’t much of a factor in the Bulldogs’ offense.
