Tennessee lands at No. 6 in the Week 12 AP rankings after a 33-14 win over Mississippi State on Saturday in Knoxville. The Vols moved up one spot in the AP rankings after three straight weeks at the No. 7 slot.
Tennessee moved to the No. 4 ranking in the USA Today Coaches Poll, which is a two-spot jump from its previous ranking at No. 6 last Sunday.
Now that we’re officially on the road to the playoffs, though, all eyes will be on the second edition of the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday night. Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider to see where Tennessee will be ranked in the Week 12 CFB Playoff rankings on Tuesday.
Georgia’s nine-spot fall in the rankings puts Tennessee as the second-highest ranked SEC team in the Week 12 AP rankings, only trailing No. 3 Texas.
Alabama, Ole Miss, and Georgia land at 9 through 11 in the AP rankings, respectively.

Tennessee’s win on Saturday night capped off a four-game, five-week home stretch for the Volunteers. Josh Heupel’s group found wins against Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, and Mississippi State during the win streak.
The Volunteers will hit the road next weekend for the first time since the Vols’ 19-14 loss against Arkansas in early October. Tennessee will take on No. 11 Georgia in a night game from Athens, GA. ESPN’s College GameDay will be there as both teams look to keep their playoff chances alive in a critical SEC rivalry game.
No. 11 Georgia (7-2) will host No. 6 Tennessee (8-1) at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
