Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava is out for the remainder of the Vols’ matchup against Mississippi State, according to the ESPN broadcast.

It’s unclear what play Iamaleava was injured on. He took a big hit on an incomplete third down throw on Tennessee’s second to final drive of the first half but he returned for the ensuing drive where he handed the ball to Cam Seldon and completed a 21-yard pass to Squirrel White for a first down to set up a field goal to end the drive.

Iamaleava had turned in a strong first half, completing eight-of-13 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 22 yards on four carries.

Redshirt senior Gaston Moore replaced Iamaleava to start the second half with the Vols leading 20-7. Tennessee went three-and-out on the opening drive of the second half.

A walk-on quarterback, Moore has completed 11-of-17 passes for 163 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions so far this season. A former Central Florida transfer, Moore has played very little football for Tennessee this season.

Injuries have bit Tennessee’s offense badly in its matchup against Mississippi State. Dylan Sampson suffered an injury on the second to final drive of the first half as well. After being ruled questionable to return at halftime, Sampson returned to the game on Tennessee’s second drive of the second half.

  1. Better start today in the first half and considering everything that went on with the injuries and everything just hope we have a good long week for everyone to do some healing up and be good and healthy for next Saturdays game witch will probably be the most important game and most meaningful game against the best team we have went up against this year but if everyone can get healthy I really like Tennessee’s chance I think we have a better shot than they are giving us so keep it going guys!!! Govols!!!
