Tennessee Football will honor the life and legacy of basketball icon Pat Summitt this Saturday night against Mississippi State.
For the third year in a row, Tennessee will add “Summitt Blue” accessories to their orange-and-white uniform combination for Saturday’s SEC game against Mississippi State. Tennessee first introduced the Summitt Blue accessories in 2022 and carried them into 2023 as well.
The timing of Saturday’s game and the Summitt Blue accessories isn’t coincidental, either.
November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.
Pat Summitt, the legendary eight-time National Champion at Tennessee, passed away in 2016 after a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Saturday night’s game also serves as Tennessee’s Homecoming contest:
“Fans will be able to see the top three voted on Greek life floats at Vol Village on Saturday before the game while Homecoming banners will hang from the upper deck of Neyland Stadium, as well,” Tennessee wrote in a gameday preview on Friday. “The team will also wear Summitt Blue accessories (wristbands, arm sleeves, etc.) to honor legendary Lady Vols basketball coach Pat Summitt.”

Tennessee will wear its traditional orange-and-white home uniforms with the Summitt Blue accessories against Mississippi State on Saturday.
“Obviously the success that her program had underneath her watch, it’s something that’s recognized nationally,” Heupel said of Summitt in 2023. “I think one of the most pointed things that I could remember in my short time here about Coach Summitt is the stories of the people that she impacted not associated with Tennessee women’s basketball. Everybody that has come into contact with her has a great story about how she impacted the people around her and enriched the lives of the people around her. She had a great impact on the court, but she had more impact off the court. It’s a really powerful legacy.”
No. 7 Tennessee will host Mississippi State at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday night in Neyland Stadium.
