Tennessee football is a day away from kicking off its homecoming matchup against Mississippi State at Neyland Stadium.

First-year Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby is a former Josh Heupel assistant at UCF with the pair knowing each other from the start of their careers as low level assistants at Oklahoma. It has largely been a rough first year for Lebby with the Bulldogs coming to Knoxville with a 2-7 (0-5 SEC) record.
The Bulldogs offense has been steadily improving over the course of the season especially since making the move at quarterback to freshman quarterback Michael Van Buren. Over its last four games, Mississippi State is averaging 31 points per game.
Tennessee is facing Mississippi State in its penultimate home game and final SEC home game of the season. The Vols have road games against Georgia and Vanderbilt remaining on their schedule as they look to make the first ever 12-team College Football Playoff.
