Former Vol and current Chargers wide receiver Josh Palmer found the endzone for the first time this season today in Cleveland. This was Palmer’s 10th touchdown of his NFL career as kicked down the door to double-digit career touchdowns since his time at Tennessee.
Palmer has seen his numbers improve in recent weeks while becoming more comfortable in the newer Chargers offense, as well as getting more snaps with injuries to other Chargers wide receivers. Through three games in October, Palmer caught eight passes for 173 yards while being featured more often in Jim Harbaugh’s offense.
The VFL stayed hot in Cleveland on Sunday as he finished the game with two receptions for 63 yards and his first receiving touchdown of the season.
On a 3rd and 21 play halfway through the first quarter, quarterback Justin Herbert saw Palmer wide open downfield due to a broken coverage. Herbert delivered the pass and Palmer waltzed into the endzone.

Palmer sparked the Chargers’ offense with this first-quarter touchdown as the game was scoreless at the time. Using this early score, L.A. was able to put up 20 points in the first half for the third time this year and the first time since Week 6.
In previous seasons, Palmer has been known to be the next man up for the Chargers and this season has been no different. An improved number of snaps has led to more targets from Herbert, and a more fluid offense for L.A. thanks to the former Vol.
Palmer will look to stay active and find the endzone more often as the Chargers season continues.
