Five-star class of 2026 running back Savion Hiter is visiting Tennessee football this weekend for the Vols’ matchup against Kentucky at Neyland Stadium.
Hiter ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 20 player in the 2026 recruiting cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings. A Mineral native, Hiter ranks as the top player in Virginia and the No. 1 running back in the entire country in the 2026 cycle.
Mineral, Virginia is in the eastern side of the state and is 50 miles from Richmond. It’s approximately a six hour drive from Mineral to Knoxville.
As a sophomore in 2023, Hiter rushed for 1,187 yards and 11 touchdowns while returning a pair of kicks for touchdowns. This season, Hiter has helped lead Louisa County to a 6-2 record with two games remaining in the regular season.
The blue-chip running back has taken one visit to Tennessee previously, an unofficial visit in the summer of 2023. Hiter planned on originally visiting Tennessee for the Alabama game two weeks ago but ended up having to cancel and instead is visiting this weekend for the Kentucky game.

Hiter has visited Michigan more than any other school, taking three visits to Ann Arbor this calendar year. He’s also taken two visits to Ohio State, two visits to Georgia and a visit to Clemson so far in 2024.
Tennessee football hasn’t landed a single running back in the 2025 recruiting cycle and unless they successfully flip Southern Cal commit Daune Morris they likely won’t end up signing one in the high school ranks.
That makes running back recruiting a priority for Tennessee football in the 2026 recruiting cycle. As the top running back in the class, Hiter is one of the Vols’ top targets and would be a major coup for Josh Heupel and running backs coach De’Rail Sims.
Tennessee football’s 2026 recruiting class currently contains five commitments but none of them are from running backs. The five-commit recruiting class currently ranks No. 7 nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
