Tennessee Football Opens As Multi-Score Favorites Against Kentucky

Tennessee football opened as 14.5 point favorites over Kentucky according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The over/under is set at 44.5. That means that FanDuel projects Tennessee to beat Kentucky approximately 30-15.

The border rivalry was not one of the games that sportsbooks released lines for before the season meaning the line six days out is the initial line for the SEC showdown.

Tennessee is 5-2 against the spread so far this season and 2-2 against the spread in SEC play. The Vols covered as favorites in wins over Chattanooga, NC State, Kent State and Oklahoma while failing to cover in their loss at Arkansas and win over Florida. Tennessee also covered in its lone game as an underdog this season, beating Alabama straight up.

The over has hit in three Tennessee games this season while the under has hit in four games. The under has hit in all four of Tennessee’s SEC games to this point in the season.

Kentucky is 4-4 against the spread this season and is 2-0 against the spread as underdogs. The Wildcats are also 1-1 against the spread away from home. The over has hit in just two Kentucky games this season while the under has hit in six games.

Tennessee is coming off its best win of the season two weeks ago when they knocked off Alabama 24-17 at Neyland Stadium. The Vols were off this past Saturday and enter November with a 6-1 (3-1 SEC) record. Tennessee is in the thick of the race to make the 12-team College Football Playoff in the first year of its existence.

The Wildcats don’t have any College Football Playoff aspirations but they are still looking to make a bowl game and save a decent season amidst what’s been a frustrating first two months of the year. Kentucky heads to Tennessee boasting a 3-5 (1-5 SEC) record and has lost three straight and is coming off a 24-10 loss against Auburn in Lexington.

Kentucky has played its final home SEC game of the season, going 0-4 at Kroger Field for the first time since Mark Stoops’ first season as head coach.

Kickoff between Tennessee and Kentucky at Neyland Stadium is at 7:45 p.m. ET on Saturday night. The SEC Network is broadcasting the matchup.
