Former Tennessee safety Jack Luttrell was named to the Pro Football Focus Week 8 All-Big 12 team after intercepting Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders twice on Saturday afternoon in Tuscan.

While Luttrell had a big day in the secondary in his first career start, the Arizona Wildcats couldn’t overcome Colorado’s 21-point halftime lead and ended up losing 34-7 on their home field.

Luttrell ended up with extended snaps on the field due to a bevy of injuries for the Wildcats but made the most of his opportunity with five tackles and two interceptions. The former Vol stepped up for the moment, too. Luttrell’s only recorded stats so far this season were two punt returns that totaled 10 yards in the first two games of the season.

Luttrell graded out as Arizona’s best defender on Saturday according to Pro Football Focus.

On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos ranked his top impact players from last offseason’s transfer portal on Monday with Luttrell coming in as the No. 6 transfer, one spot ahead of Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia. Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy is ranked as the No. 3 player from the transfer portal through this point in the season.

Arizona reporters raved about Luttrell’s performance coming out of the game, including ABC15’s Matt Reynoldson.

Luttrell and Arizona will stay at home for a contest against West Virginia on Saturday evening before a road game to Central Florida the following week.
