Three-star class of 2026 defensive lineman Tyson Bacon committed to Tennessee football on Monday night following the Vols’ win over Alabama.
A Hoover, Alabama native, Bacon visited Tennessee this past weekend for the Vols’ 24-17 win over their arch rival Alabama. Bacon told Josh Heupel he was committing to Tennessee in the locker room postgame and he anounced his commitment publicly on Monday night.

Bacon ranks as a three-star recruit and the No. 487 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-3, 248-pound defensive lineman also ranks as the No. 42 defensive lineman and No. 18 player in the state of Alabama.

It is still early in the 2026 recruiting cycle with Bacon just being a junior at Hoover High School. He boasts offers from Florida, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Washington. Bacon did take a visit to both Alabama and Michigan with the Alabama visit coming just a week before he committed to Tennessee.
The Vols’ 2026 recruiting class currently contains four commits with both Bacon and four-star interior offensive lineman Brandon Anderson committing to Tennessee following the Vols’ win over Alabama. They joined five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon and four-star tight end Carson Snead as the first members in Tennessee’s 2026 class.
Tennessee’s four-commit 2026 recruiting class currently ranks No. 7 nationally and No. 3 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings. Coincidentally, Tennessee’s 2025 recruiting class also ranks No. 7 nationally.
