Tennessee is 4-2 against the spread so far this season. The Vols covered as favorites in wins over Chattanooga, NC State, Kent State and Oklahoma while obviously failing to cover in their loss at Arkansas and win over Florida. The over and under have each hit three times in Tennessee’s games so far this season.

Alabama is 3-3 against the spread so far this season. The Crimson Tide failed to cover in wins over South Florida and South Carolina as well as in their upset loss against Vanderbilt. Alabama did cover in wins over Western Kentucky, Wisconsin and Georgia. The over has hit in five Alabama games this season while the under has hit just once.

Both Alabama and Tennessee have had very similar seasons to date. Both teams dominated its non conference power four opponent and passed their first big SEC test. But two weeks ago, both teams lost on the road against unranked foes. Then last week, each team survived home scares as major favorites as Alabama beat South Carolina on the final play of the game and Tennessee defeated Florida in overtime.

The Third Saturday in October is a critical game for each team with both teams badly needing wins for their College Football Playoff hopes. Alabama’s offense will be by far the best that Tennessee has seen to this point in the season.

Kickoff between Tennessee and Alabama is at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville. ESPN is broadcasting the matchup.
