The kickoff time and broadcast details are set for Tennessee football’s rivalry matchup against Alabama in two weeks. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET and ABC is broadcasting the game, the SEC announced on Monday.
It’s the first game of a primetime doubleheader for ABC as No. 8 Tennessee takes on No.9 Alabama in the afternoon before No. 1 Texas hosts No. 5 Georgia in Austin.
Both Tennessee and Alabama are in desperate need of victories following disappointing upset losses on the first weekend of October.
Coming off its massive win against Georgia, the Crimson Tide fell behind early and couldn’t climb out of the hole in a stunning 40-35 loss against Vanderbilt. As Alabama’s loss against Vanderbilt went final, Tennessee was kicking off against Arkansas and went on to lose 19-14 on the road against the unranked Razorbacks.

With both teams 4-1 (1-1 SEC) with one game remaining before kickoff, each team is desperate for a win to remain in a strong spot in the College Football Playoff race. Both teams can afford one more loss, but the Vols still have a road trip to Georgia on the schedule and need to knock off the Crimson Tide to remain on the right side of the bubble.
The 2024 matchup of the Third Saturday in October marks a new era in the rivalry as Nick Saban is not on the Alabama sideline for the first time since 2006. Alabama was 16-1 against Tennessee under Saban. Now with Kalen DeBoer leading the Crimson Tide program, Tennessee is looking to flip the tide in the rivalry and earn its second win in three tries over its oldest rival.
Other top SEC games in week eight of the college football slate include LSU-Arkansas at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, South Carolina-Oklahoma at either ESPN or SEC Network and Kentucky-Auburn at 7:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
