Tennessee Basketball officially opened the preseason slate on Tuesday afternoon with six weeks between now and the start of the Vols’ 2024-2025 season.
The Vols’ roster is a lot different than it looked last season with a handful of departures and additions this past offseason. While Tennessee lost Dalton Knecht, Santiago Vescovi, Josiah-Jordan James, Jonas Aidoo (Arkansas), and Tobe Awaka (Arizona), Rick Barnes added four players from the portal and one talented high school prospect to the Vols roster this season: guard Chaz Lanier, forward Igor Milicic Jr., wing Darlinstone Dubar, center Felix Okpara, and guard Bishop Boswell (class of 2024).
Tennessee also returns a trio of seniors with Zakai Zeigler, Jordan Gainey, and Jahmai Mashack, as well as a trio of sophomores with JP Estrella, Cade Phillips, and Cam Carr.
The cameras could only be out for the beginning portions of practice but the media was allowed to stick around to see the workout in its entirety. For more observations and takeaways from the Vols’ first official preseason practice on Tuesday, check out Rocky Top Insider’s workout notes here.
