Five-star shooting guard Darius Adams released his top three including Tennessee basketball as well as an upcoming commitment date on Tuesday afternoon.
Adams is down to a top three that includes Connecticut, Michigan State and Tennessee. The blue-chip recruit is announcing his college commitment on Monday, Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. ET on the 247sports YouTube page.
Adams is one of the top players on Tennessee basketball’s recruiting board. He ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 19 player in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-5, 165-pound prospect also ranks as the No. 4 shooting guard in the entire 2025 cycle.
A Manasquan, New Jersey native, Adams plays his prep basketball at the La Lumiere School in Indiana. Last season, the highly touted guard helped lead La Lumiere to a 22-5 record.
Adams took official visits to all three schools in his top group as well as NC State before cutting his list to just Michigan State, Tennessee and UConn. The blue-chip recruit officially visited Tennessee the week of the Kent State football game which was also the same weekend that fellow five-star Chris Cenac officially visited.

The 2025 recruiting class is a critical one for Tennessee basketball. Tennessee definitively has eight scholarships to work with this offseason. Tennessee’s current roster contains only 11 scholarship players meaning the Vols are two under the limit entering the season. Rick Barnes’ 10th team at Tennessee has six seniors on its roster including returners Zakai Zeigler, Jahmai Mashack and Jordan Gainey as well as incoming transfers Igor Milicic Jr (Charlotte), Darlinstone Dubar (Hofstra) and Chaz Lanier (North Florida).
With at least eight scholarships to work with this offseason, Tennessee will sign more high school prospects this cycle than they have in a number of years. The Vols last signed five recruits in the 2022 recruiting cycle and will likely be in that ballpark if not matching it in the 2025 cycle.
Tennessee basketball currently holds one commit in its 2025 recruiting class and it comes from four-star center DeWayne Brown. The Hoover, Alabama native committed to the Vols over Mississippi State back in April. Brown’s commitment is good enough to give Tennessee the No. 35 recruiting class in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to the 247sports team rankings.
The Vols have also been active recruiting a number of blue-chip recruits. Four-star guard Dante Allen officially visited Tennessee earlier this fall. As did Amari Evans who announced his commitment date last week. Blue-chip recruits Isaiah Dennis and Brayden Burries also have visits planned for later this fall.
