The San Fransisco 49ers were looking for someone to step up on offense in its Sunday afternoon matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Star receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle were out for the game in addition to superstar running back Christian McCaffrey who’s been out the entire season to date.

Enter Jauan Jennings.

The former Tennessee receiver turned in the game of his career against the Rams. Jennings caught 11 passes for 175 yards and a career-best three touchdowns in the 27-24 loss.

The fifth-year receiver has been a solid and reliable receiver during his NFL career but certainly hasn’t been a star. He totaled just 265 yards and one touchdown last season. The Murfreesboro, Tennessee native was off to a strong start this season, catching seven passes for 101 yards in the first two games of the season.

But Jennings hadn’t done anything like he did against the Rams. In fact, is three touchdowns in the one game was more than he combined for in the regular season each of the last two years. Jennings did total two touchdowns in the Super Bowl last season, throwing for one on a trick play and catching one in the fourth quarter.
