NORMAN, OK — No. 6 Tennessee will be without four injured players against No. 15 Oklahoma on Saturday night.
In a new rule passed by the SEC, teams are required to list injury reports before conference games daily starting on Wednesday night through the day of the game.
The injury report from Saturday evening states that four players will be out for Tennessee: DB Jourdan Thomas, DB John Slaughter, OL Shamurad Umarov, and LT Lance Heard.
The biggest injury to note is Heard as he missed Week 3 against Kent State as well. The former LSU transfer started both of Tennessee’s first two games at left tackle protecting Nico Iamaleava’s blind side.
In Heard’s absence, veteran offensive lineman Dayne Davis will likely slide into Heard’s place on the line. Davis was Heard’s replacement in his absence last weekend against the Golden Flashes.
While Thomas suffered his season-ending injury during fall training camp, both Slaughter and Umarov are both rotational players on Tennessee’s roster – Heard is the only Tennessee starter who is out.
