Tennessee football is wearing its all white “stormtrooper” uniforms for its SEC opener at Oklahoma, the Vols announced on X (Twitter) Thursday morning.

It’s the second time that Tennessee has worn its all white uniforms this season after also donning them in its 51-10 blowout win over NC State in Charlotte. The Vols are 5-4 in their stormtrooper uniforms in Josh Heupel’s three seasons as head coach but big SEC wins have been hard to find in them outside of Tennessee’s win at Kentucky in Heupel’s first season as head coach.

On the young season, Tennessee is 1-0 in its all white uniforms, 1-0 in its smokey grey uniforms and 1-0 in its all orange uniforms. The Vols have yet to wear their classic home uniforms, their dark mode uniforms or their white jerseys on orange pants.

Oklahoma has yet to announce its uniforms for Saturday night’s primetime matchup in Norman. But outside of a throwback uniform that they’ve already worn this season, the Sooners almost exclusively wear red helmets, red jerseys and white pants at home.

Tennessee is currently seven-point favorites over Oklahoma in the critical conference opener according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The Vols are ranked sixth nationally while racing out to a 3-0 start to the season. No. 15 Oklahoma is also 3-0 but has been less convincing in its wins over Houston and Tulane.

Kickoff at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium is at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe are on the call for ABC.
