Tennessee football has impressed in its build up to SEC play this season. It’s just been three games and two of them were against overmatched opponents but the Vols have been absolutely dominant to begin the season.

Josh Heupel’s fourth Tennessee team is outscoring its opponents 191-13 so far this season and hasn’t given up an offensive touchdown. The Vols aren’t just 3-0 against the spread this season but have covered the spread by a total 76.5 points and an average of 25.5 points per game.

Life gets more difficult for Tennessee this weekend when they open up SEC play at No. 15 Oklahoma. The Vols have a number of SEC games they should win easily but a handful of challenging games including their conference opener in Norman.

Tennessee’s impressive start to the season has altered the outlook on the Vols from people in the national and regional media. Tennessee opened the season ranked No. 15 in the AP Poll and is up to No. 6 despite playing just one power four opponent.

Before the season, most viewed Tennessee as a College Football Playoff contender but few outside of Knoxville projected the Vols to make the playoffs. But three weeks into the season, that thought process has changed.
