The Tennessee Titans are not renowned winners in the NFL. In the past two seasons, Tennessee has combined to win just 13 games and its 2024 season started just as poorly when they blew a 17-point lead last week in Chicago.

Ahead of their home opener, the Titans turned to the best sports program in the Volunteer State to try and spark some winning ways. Tennessee baseball, and specifically head coach Tony Vitello, served as the 12th Titan for the home opener.

Tennessee baseball, as a whole, was serving as the 12th Titan with Vitello, strength and conditioning coach Quentin Eberhardt and pitchers Zander Sechrist, Kirby Connell and AJ Russell representing the program at the game.

Vanderbilt was the baseball power in the state of Tennessee over the last two decades winning a pair of National Championships in 2014 and 2019.

But under Tony Vitello’s guidance, Tennessee baseball has become the top program not only in its own state or the SEC but the entire country. Over the last four seasons, Tennessee’s made it to the College World Series three times and has won both the SEC Regular-Season and Tournament twice.

The Vols parlayed that success with the ultimate prize last season as Tennessee won its first National Championship in program history. It was one of the best seasons in college baseball history as the Vols went 60-13 (22-8 SEC) winning the SEC Regular-Season and Tournament Championships on their way to the National Championship.

Tennessee baseball lost an abundance of talent following its 2024 National Championship but expectations remain high entering the 2025 season thanks to the return of some key players and a strong incoming high school and transfer class.
