Tennessee football earned its most lopsided victory in modern history on Saturday night, defeating Kent State 71-0 at Neyland Stadium.
With a win of that margin, Tennessee football broke or tied a handful of program records in its week three victory over Kent State. Here’s a look at every record that the Vols set.

Most Points In A Single Quarter
Tennessee’s 37 first quarter points was its most in a single quarter in program history besting its 35 points in the first quarter of its win over Arkansas in 2000.
The Vols scored touchdowns on all five drives in the first quarter and recorded a safety on a bad Kent State snap.
Dylan Sampson scored three first quarter touchdowns including from 22 yards and two more from one yards. Nico Iamaleava tossed a 53-yard touchdown Chris Brazzell and DeSean Bishop recorded a 53-yard touchdown run.
Most Points In A Single Half
Tennessee’s 65 points in the first half was its most in a single half in program history. After the 37 point first quarter, Tennessee cored 28 points in the second quarter with four touchdowns on four drives. Iamaleava was in at quarterback for two of the drives while Gaston Moore was in at quarterback for the next two drives.
The Vols scored second quarter touchdowns on a 47-yard Bishop run, a 14-yard Sampson run, a 15-yard pass from Moore to Miles Kitselman and an 18-yard pass from Moore to Mike Matthews.
Most Points In A Game (Modern Era)
Tennessee had just three second half drives and scored just six points thanks to Max Gilbert connection on a 36-yard and 21-yard field goal.
Still, those six points were good for 71 on the game which broke a new modern record for most points in the modern era.
Most Total Yards (Modern Era)
Tennessee’s 740 yards of offense broke the program’s record for most yards in a game in modern history. It broke a previous Josh Heupel era record when Tennessee totaled 724 yards in its win over Missouri in 2022.
The Vols totaled 456 yards on the ground and 284 yards through the air. Iamaleava threw for 173 yards while Bishop ran for 120 yards, Sampson ran for 101 yards and Peyton Lewis ran for 99 yards.
Individual Single Game Rushing Touchdown Record (Modern Era)
Sampson rushed for four touchdowns to go along with his 101 yards which tied John Kelly for the most rushing touchdowns in a single game in modern Tennessee football history. Kelly recorded the four touchdowns in the Vols’ win over Georgia Tech to open up the 2017 season.
Through three games, Sampson has nine rushing touchdowns. The program record for most rushing touchdowns in a season is 18 from Gene McEver in 1929.

Tennessee is outscoring opponents by 178 points so far this season
That is the largest margin of victory through three weeks in the SEC in the AP Poll era (1938) and is the second largest margin in the FBS during that same time frame.
