Tennessee football announced its uniform combination for its week three matchup against Kent State on Thursday morning and the Vols are breaking out the orange britches for the first time this season.

The Vols are wearing their orange jerseys with orange pants and white helmets for their final tuneup before the start of SEC play.

It’s also the first time that Tennessee has worn orange jerseys this season after they wore smokey grey uniforms in the season opener against Chattanooga and road uniforms in the neutral site contest against NC State. The Vols are 1-0 in their smokey grey uniforms and 1-0 in their all white “stormtrooper” uniforms this season.

Tennessee went 1-0 in its all orange uniforms a season ago, dominating UTSA in week four at Neyland Stadium. However, the Vols went just 1-1 in the orange pants a season ago losing in blowout fashion at Missouri.

Tennessee is 4-1 in its all orange uniforms under head coach Josh Heupel. The Vols lost to Ole Miss and beat Vanderbilt in them during the 2021 season before defeating Akron and UT Martin in them in 2022 and UTSA in them in 2023.

The Vols are massive favorites in week three over a bad Golden Flashes team. Kent State is off to an 0-2 start this season with a loss at Pitt and at home against FCS St. Francis.

Kickoff between Tennessee and Kent State is at 7:45 p.m. ET on Saturday night. Tom Hart, Jordan Rodgers and Cole Cubelic are on the call for the SEC Network.
