No. 14 Tennessee dismantled No. 24 NC State by a score of 51-10 on Saturday night in the Duke’s Mayo Classic.
While Josh Heupel’s unit is usually known for their offensive prowess, Tennessee’s defense was the group who had the lights-out performance on Saturday night in Charlotte.
The Vols’ defense held NC State to just 143 total yards, 104 through the air and 39 on the ground. The Wolfpack had significant trouble moving the ball consistently all night, which kept putting the game back in Nico Iamaleava’s hands as Tennessee’s quarterback.
NC State head coach Dave Doeren and Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel talked about the lopsided affair with the media after the game.
