CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A duo of Tennessee backups are officially out for Tennessee football against NC State while another is not dressed out.
Running back Cam Seldon and linebacker Kalib Perry are officially out according to a Tennessee spokesperson while freshman linebacker Edwin Spillman was in street clothes while the Vols went through pregame warmups.
Seldon underwent shoulder surgery during spring practice and was limited throughout much of fall camp but he did play in the Vols’ season opener against Chattanooga last week. In addition to being Dylan Sampson’s backup at running back, Seldon returned kicks for Tennessee in the season opener.

With Seldon out, redshirt freshman DeSean Bishop is Tennessee’s second running back while sophomore Khalifa Keith and freshman Peyton Lewis will also provide depth.
Kalib Perry is a backup inside linebacker for Tennessee while Spillman is a third string inside linebacker. With the duo out, the Vols will likely lean heavy on just three inside linebackers: Keenan Pili, Arion Carter and Jeremiah Telander. If Tennessee plays more linebackers than those three, it will likely be Jalen Smith who performed well in the Vols’ blowout win over Chattanooga.
Kickoff between Tennessee and NC State is at 7:30 p.m. ET. Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe are on the call for ABC.
