Tennessee Football returned to Neyland Stadium for their season opener on Saturday afternoon, defeating Chattanooga by a score of 69-3 on a hot, sunny day in Knoxville, TN.
Breaking from tradition a bit, Tennessee opted to debut their newest set of Smokey Grey uniforms for the season opener as the Vols went with the all-grey look. Tennessee revealed the “Volunteer State” tribute uniforms over the summer.
Tennessee’s uniforms included a Tri-Star design on the jersey, helmets, and pants. The off-balanced white stripe on the helmet and the pants represent the outer circle on the Tri-Star logo. The helmets are patterned after the Great Smoky Mountains.
Rocky Top Insider’s Cole Moore was on the field for Tennessee’s season opener and captured some terrific photos of the uniforms in action and big plays being made by the Vols throughout the game.
