Pride Of The Southland Marching Band Honors Tennessee Baseball National Championship

The return of Tennessee football Saturday afternoon also meant the return of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. The University of Tennessee’s marching band returned in style on Saturday afternoon, honoring the National Championship Tennessee baseball team with its halftime performance.

Included in its halftime show was a baseball with a T inside of it, the shape of a baseball field, spelling out “Tony V” and a mustache representing veteran reliever Kirby Connell’s mustache.

The 2024 Tennessee baseball team won the first National Championship in program history. Tony Vitello’s seventh Tennessee team went 60-13 (22-8 SEC) winning the SEC Regular-Season and Tournament Championship on there way to earning the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Tennessee went 5-1 on its way to its third trip to the College World Series in four seasons. A comeback win over Florida State propelled the Vols into the winners bracket where they earned two more wins to advance to the College World Series finals for the second time ever.

The Vols dropped game one against Texas A&M before winning games two and three to bring home the first National Championship in program history.

Tennessee football took care of business in its season opener against Chattanooga, annihilating the Mocs 69-3 inside Neyland Stadium.
