Tennessee Football Massive Favorites Against Chattanooga In Season Opener

We’ve reached the one week point and Tennessee football is just six days away from opening up its 2024 season against Chattanooga at Neyland Stadium.

Facing off against an instate FCS foe, Tennessee is 38.5-point favorites according to FanDuel. The over/under is set at 56.5. With that line and over/under, FanDuel predicts that Tennessee will approximately earn a 48-10 victory.

Tennessee football is coming off a 9-4 season where they went 4-4 in SEC play and defeated Iowa 35-0 in the Citrus Bowl to close out the season. The Vols went 6-6 against the spread during the 2023 season with the over hitting in six  games, the under has hit five times and pushed once.

Chattanooga is coming off an 8-5 season where they went 6-2 in the Southern Conference and made the FCS Playoffs where they made a run to the second round before falling to conference foe Furman for the second time in less than a month.

Expectations are high for Rusty Wright’s sixth season as Chattanooga’s head coach. The Mocs came in at No. 8 in the Preseason FCS Coaches Poll.

Tennessee ranks as the No. 15 in the Preseason AP Poll ahead of Josh Heupel’s fourth season as head coach. Optimism is high for the Vols thanks to a highly touted defensive line and talented redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava. The Vols get a tune up against Chattanooga to open the season before a week two top 25 matchup against North Carolina State in Charlotte.

Kickoff is at 12:45 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium. The SEC Network is broadcasting the matchup.
