Kirk Herbstreit and the ESPN College Gameday crew back on the television sets regularly is a sign that football season is right around the corner.
While discussing the 2023 Herbie Awards on ESPN on Friday, Herbstreit named Neyland Stadium’s iconic tradition of running through the Pride of the Southland-built T as the best entrance in all of college football.
“The best entrance? Boy, I had a chance to see this a couple years ago and be reminded,” Herbstreit said on ESPN. “Now that Tennessee is back playing great football, boy, there’s not a better scene than Neyland Stadium, especially at night. And when they go through that Power T, it opens up with the band and the team comes out – what an awesome atmosphere and a great way to get you fired up for the start of the football game.

More from RTI: Tennessee Commit Faizon Brandon Rocks U.T. Gear In Season Opening Win
Tennessee has seven home games set for Neyland Stadium this fall:
Aug. 31 vs Chattanooga
Sept. 14 vs Kent State
Oct. 12 vs Florida
Oct. 19 vs Alabama
Nov. 2 vs Kentucky
Nov. 9 vs Mississippi State
Nov. 23 vs UTEP
ESPN’s College Gameday visited Tennessee two times during the Vols’ breakout 2022 season but did not return in 2023. With Tennessee projected to be one of the country’s Top 15 teams throughout the season, RTI’s Ryan Schumpert speculated in August that the only legitimate option for Knoxville is the Alabama game on Oct. 19. That being said, though, there’s a decent chance GameDay could go to Tennessee’s road matchups at Oklahoma (Sept. 21) or at Georgia (Nov. 16).
Herbstreit and the crew are live from Ireland on Saturday morning in preparation of Saturday’s Georgia Tech-Florida State game. While talking about the depth of the SEC, Herbstreit brought up Josh Heupel’s squad for the first time in the conversation.
“Look out for Tennessee,” Herbstreit said.
