Tennessee Football is set to break out their new Smokey Grey uniforms for the season-opening game against UT Chattanooga next Saturday in Knoxville.

The Vols revealed the Smokey Grey “Volunteer State” uniforms on July 13 and, as it turns out, the wait to see the new look in action won’t take long.

Tennessee made the announcement with a social media video on Thursday.

Tennessee wore their traditional home orange-and-white look for the 2023 season opener in Nashville last season, saving the previous Condredge Holloway-inspired Smokey Grey uniforms for Week 2 against Austin Peay.

This year, though, the Vols will be kicking off the season in their “Volunteer State” Smokey Grey uniforms in Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee’s 2024 Smokey Grey combo is the third grey set the Vols have used in as many years. The Volunteer State tribute uniform features “Tennessee” across the chest for the first time in program history (home games), the Tri-Star state logo on the pants, shoulder pads, and back of the helmet, and the Great Smoky Mountains design on the helmet as a whole.

The Vols have been victorious in their previous two Smokey Grey games, with a dominant road victory over LSU in 2022 and a win over Austin Peay in 2023 in Neyland Stadium.

No. 15 Tennessee will host UT Chattanooga at 12:45 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 31, in Neyland Stadium.
