With Tennessee football’s season less than two weeks away and as the hype around Nico Iamaleava builds, Tennessee announced a new partnership between its first-year starting quarterback and Beats by Dre headphones.

The announcement came with a video of Iamaleava working out inside Tennessee’s football facility and Neyland Stadium while wearing custom Tennessee Beats. Iamaleava is one of three college football players that announced partnerships with the headphones company on Wednesday morning along with Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and Florida State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei.

Iamaleava is entering his first season as Tennessee’s starting quarterback. The 6-foot-6 quarterback played in five games in his true freshman season including one start in the Vols’ 35-0 Citrus Bowl win over Iowa. Over the course of his freshman season, Iamaleava completed 28-of-47 passes for 314 yards and two passing touchdowns as well as three rushing touchdowns.
Tennessee has done little to limit the hype for the former five-star quarterback and top five recruit nationally as he enters his redshirt freshman season. The Vols’ coaches and players have been highly complimentary of Iamaleava this fall camp as he approaches his first season as the full-time starter.
“I think we are going to see his play go to an even higher level, which is a scary thing to think about because just his natural ability to step on a football field and go play well is elite,” Tennessee offensive coordinator Joey Halzle said earlier during camp. “Now, he’s got to go do it with live bullets for 17 straight games this year, but we’re really excited about where he’s at mentally in this process.”
Tennessee and Iamaleava open up its 2024 season on Aug. 31 when they host UT-Chattanooga at Neyland Stadium. Kickoff is at 12:45 p.m. ET and the SEC Network is broadcasting the game.
