As the top-ranked uncommitted player in the 2025 class, Sanders has been the talk of the recruiting world with fall camps taking place around the country. 247 Sports’ Composite rankings have Sanders as the No. 2 overall player, the No. 1 offensive tackle in the class, and the No. 1 player from the state of North Carolina.
Sanders will choose between Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio State, and Nebraska on Saturday.
With time winding down to Sanders’ announcement, the Tennessee Volunteers look to be in a great position for the decision. The Vols hauled in five predictions (four from On3 Sports, one from 247 Sports) last week as On3 Sports Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons penned out his belief that Tennessee was “setting the pace” in the final week.
The Vols have also done well to show Sanders what life in Knoxville will look like. Tennessee has hosted Sanders five times in 2024 and is hoping that their summer surge is enough to be the last team standing.
With the late projections towards Tennessee coming in last week, the Vols are solely in the driver’s seat according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine. While no prediction is a guarantee of what will happen, Tennessee is the overwhelming leader at 82 percent compared to Ohio State’s 4.5 percent and Georgia’s 3.4 percent.
Tennessee’s 2025 class already has a Top 10 ranking according to 247 but a commitment from Sanders on Sunday would give Tennessee a true top commit in the incoming class. The Vols have the No. 8 class according to 247 with 12 four-star players and nine-three star players and are hoping to add Sanders to the list as the only consensus five-star player this weekend.
Sanders was named the 2023 North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year and earned Second Team All-American honors from MaxPreps as a junior. Sanders spent the 2023 season blocking for Michigan quarterback Jadyn Davis as the offense tallied more than 3,700 passing yards and 8.6 yards per rushing attempt, according to 247 Sports.
There’s no question that Sanders is every bit of the Top 2 prospect that he’s listed at across the recruiting landscape.
“Tends to explode out of his stance and constantly plays with a sense of urgency as he is always looking for work,” 247 Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivens wrote about Sanders in August. “Advanced hand placement gives him an advantage in pass sets as does his proficiency in changing course and refortifying. Climbs up field with ease and is more than capable of clearing traffic on screens.”
