The 2024 Tennessee football season is rapidly approaching and with excitement building, the Vols announced sell outs for five of their seven home games on Thursday morning.

Tennessee announced sell outs at Neyland Stadium for matchup against Kent State, Florida, Alabama, Kentucky and Mississippi State. Tickets are sold out for all four SEC games but are still available for the season opener against Chattanooga and the November matchup against UTEP.

Tennessee’s 2024 home schedule is incredibly important and manageable in the first season of the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.

Perhaps three of the Vols’ four hardest games will come away from home this season as they face North Carolina State at a neutral site (Charlotte) and play true road games against both Oklahoma and Georgia. That makes it extremely important that Tennessee defends its home field this season if it wants to make the playoffs.

Tennessee’s matchup against Alabama is its most difficult home game. But the Florida game is always challenging and the Gators return their starting quarterback and will likely be improved despite the low expectations. The Vols should take care of business in their two other home conference games against Kentucky and Mississippi State.

If Tennessee is going to make the College Football Playoff they likely need to run the table at home and certainly can’t lose more than one home game.

The Vols have been stout at Neyland Stadium under head coach Josh Heupel. Entering Heupel’s fourth season as head coach, Tennessee is 18-4 at home including a 13-1 record at home over the last two seasons including wins over Florida, Alabama and Texas A&M.

Tennessee opens up Josh Heupel’s fourth season as head coach against Chattanooga at Neyland Stadium on Aug. 31. Kickoff is at 12:45 p.m. ET and the SEC Network is broadcasting the game.
